Located in Gijón, within the historic neighbourhood of Cimadevilla, this project is conceived as temporary accommodation for visitors seeking an experience rooted in place.
The intervention proposes a comprehensive transformation of the existing dwelling into a suite, reorganising the zoning to optimise use and spatial sequence. Access is provided through a corridor that leads to a single, flexible space where kitchen, dining area, and living zone with sofa bed coexist. Beyond a stone-clad wall of marked symmetry lies the bedroom, directly oriented towards views of the Port of Gijón, positioning the landscape as the focal point of rest.
The bathroom, discreetly concealed behind the kitchen, is divided into independent components, allowing for multiple simultaneous uses while enhancing overall functionality without compromising spatial clarity.
At an aesthetic level, the project is shaped by its context: a deep green referencing the vegetation of Cimadevilla, and an intense blue inspired by the maritime horizon revealed upon reaching the Elogio del Horizonte by Eduardo Chillida. These colours engage in dialogue with the surrounding landscape and integrate naturally into the interior architecture, reinforcing the identity of the place and the experience of inhabitation.
